Aurora Hammond

B. Soc. Stud., MA. Psych., Cert IV WorkTr

Aurora has a Masters Degree in Psychology from the Holistic Studies Program at Antioch University in the United States. Originally trained in Social Work at Sydney University, she has combined over 25 years experience in the mental health field with these two disciplines – providing a unique perspective on the training of counsellors.

Aurora originally created the Holistic Counselling course at Naturecare College in NSW and taught there for seven years.

She has been training professionals and holistic practitioners to be counsellors since 1984 when she co-wrote the Interpersonal Helping Skills course for the University of Tasmania. She was also a lecturer at the University of NSW in the School of Social Work, lecturing on practice, counselling and fieldwork skills.

Aurora is the director of the Hammond Institute (College of Holistic Counselling) which she founded in 1994. She has a private practice, runs groups and workshops for professional groups and government bodies.

She is the author of the book Good Grief: The Healing Heart. Aurora is Vice-President of the Society of Counselling and Psychotherapy Educators (SCAPE), Vice-President of the Counsellors and Psychotherapists Association of NSW (CAPA) and a registered counsellor with the Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia (PACFA)

Teaching Staff

Davida Cohen

M.A. Clinical Psych, Advanced Family Therapy, M.A. Holistic Studies.

Davida is the Clinical Director at the Family Institute of Pinole in Northern California. There she teaches and supervises PhD graduate students during their internships and is a Counsellor in the area of Marriage, Family and Children. For the last 3 years Davida has studied and practiced energy psychology. Davida teaches our Advanced Diploma modules in Parenting, Family Therapy and Working With Children.

Jane Davidson

B.A. (Hons), Postgrad Dip Psych, registered psychologist.

Jane has over 13 years experience as a sexual assault counsellor and researcher. She is an educator on child and adult sexual assault, and therapy with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Jane teaches several of our Diploma modules and our Advanced Diploma module, Working With Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.

Sally Gillespie

M.Couns. Cert IV CMCAPA PACFA Reg.

Sally  is a Jungian psychotherapist who has been in private practice for over twenty years. She is the author of The Book Of Dreaming and Living the Dream and co-author of The Knot Of Time. Sally has been training counselling professionals in the use of dreams and sandplay since 2000 and is the current President of the C.G. Jung Society of Sydney.

Colleen Hillock

B.A. M.Ed

Colleen is the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Health Sciences Addictions Counselling Program in Medicine Hat, Canada. She has been working in the field of Addictions and Addictions Counselling Training for over 20 years. Colleen has been a Trainer for Trainers for over 5,000 hours of group counselling sessions. Colleen teaches our Advanced Diploma modules Working with Addictions 1 and 11.

Roslyn Kennedy

B.A. Dip Ed, Postgrad Dip in Conflict Resolution, Graduate of the College of Holistic Counselling.

Ros has worked as a Secondary Teacher, Teacher of the Deaf and as Practice Manager in the area of Eye Surgery. She has been working as a holistic counsellor since 2001. Roslyn combines holistic counselling with conflict resolution skills and teaches our conflict resolution module.

Denise Lavell

M.A. Couns, Cert IV in Workplace Training and graduate of the Hammond Institute.

Denise has over 10 years experience in training, lecturing, counselling and group facilitation. She brings a unique perspectice to training groups and working with individuals. her emphasis is on working with the whole person and exploring new approaches to communication, leadership and professional and personal development using experiential learning and a wide range of creative training methods.

Denise is Academic Coordinator and Senior Lecturer at the Hammond Institute, lectures at University of Western Sydney, runs professional and personal development courses with individuals and organisations and has a counselling practice in Sydney

Sabina Rabold

M.A.Couns, Graduate of Hammond Institute (College of Holistic Counselling).

Sabina has had a commitment to holistic counselling for more than 15 years having come to counselling from a background of homoeopathy and bodywork. Sabina graduated from the Hammond Institute (College of Holistic Counselling) in 1996 and went on to complete a Masters in Counselling at the University of Western Sydney in 2001. For the past 6 years, Sabina has been running the skills training program for advanced students and teaching in the Diploma of Counselling. Sabina also facilitiates the Inner Child workshops and is a counsellor in private practice.

Ashleigh Woolridge

Graduate of Hammond Institute and currently completing her Grad Dip in Gestalt Psychotherapy (2003)

She has over 10 years experience in the mental health and personal development arena. She worked as Coordinator of Therapy Programs at Evesham Private Psychiatric Hospital and South Pacific Private Hospital. She is currently involved in early intervention of child protection and has a private practice on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. She is a member of G.A.N.Z.
